Top things to do near Burnham-on-Sea and on park
Bill Smith is Head of Experience at Burnham-on-Sea Holiday Park in Somerset. With all the charms of the seaside on the park’s doorstep, what are Bill’s top recommendations of things to do when holidaying at Burnham-on-Sea?
1. Enjoy the new outdoor entertainment area
From an outdoor perspective we are really excited to welcome additional entertainment which will be positioned between the outdoor swimming pool and pedalo lake. The plans include a fantastic Outdoor Stage, the amazing Jump, a Box Bar and Seaside Treats containers, and a Mini Aerial low ropes course to enjoy (opening summer 2024, subject to final planning permission). This gives the park additional capacity especially during busier periods and we cant wait for our guests and owners to be able to enjoy these amazing experiences during the coming season and beyond!
2. Head to the seaside
We're also right by the beach. You can walk over the road, straight onto the beach and onto the promenade, and Burnham-on-Sea town is about a 10-minute walk away. So a lot of our owners and guests really like to take that little walk.
There's lots of little ice cream shops and pubs and bars you can go to so your fun doesn't have to all be all on park. Burnham-on-Sea also has the shortest pier in the UK. It's not that small when you see it but it's just apparently the shortest one!
3. Walk to the lighthouse
We also have a famous lighthouse which is a landmark here, it's a bit of a longer walk but you can see it from the park too. Lots of pubs and things in the local area are named after it so you'll have numerous pubs called 'the lighthouse'. People do love doing that walk.
4. Go fishing
A lot of people come on holiday here because of our fishing lake. We've got a fishing tackle shop where you can hire your gear if you don't have your own, and we've got a pier where you can go and sit and do your fishing. A lot of people do book caravans to just come and fish on the park, and several of our signature pitches have lake views.
It’s a huge part of the park, and something quite special to Burnham-on-Sea.
5. Explore the local area
People love going to Weston-super-Mare, another seaside town with a pier. Cheddar George and Dunster Castle are also popular landmarks you can reach from here in the car.
Why do you love Burnham-on-Sea?
Our park's quite famous for the number of trees we have, we have loads of trees all over the park, so a lot of the areas around the park are named after trees including our newest pitch development area with caravans for sale. I also like that it’s a really accessible park, both in terms of its location near the M5 and how flat the park is. We have a really strong sense of community among our owners.
