Craig Tara Holiday Park

We had an amazing stay! We were here from 25th to the 29th May 2026. The location was perfect, the rooms were top-notch, and the staff were incredibly kind and enthusiastic with brilliant entertainment. We loved the facilities and the easy-to-use Haven app, and even though activities are a bit pricey, they they were well worth it. I’ve docked a star as the caravans lack Wi-Fi and phone reception, the rooms can get quite hot, and the pool changing room area cleanliness could be improved. We can't wait to come again!

My stay was truly enjoyable and filled with great activities. The staff were amazing, friendly, and always willing to help, which made the experience even more special. I also had a comfortable night's sleep in a clean and well-maintained apartment. Thank you for such a wonderful stay. We really enjoyed every moment and look forward to visiting again!

Family member booked 2 chalets next to eachother on the ground floor. On arrival turns out we are not together on opposite building and we are on the first floor (amazing for a pram, not), asked to have them together as per booking that was booked weeksss ago but they claim they're busy and cannot do this. Our chalet was infested with spiders, there was a spider nest in the hallway to the room, have to keep windows closed because spiders were crawling up the outside windows. As someone who.has a fear or spiders, this was.. a nightmare. Hot water would work for 2 minutes then shut off. We told reception team and they said they'd get it done but didn't. So 106 spider central it was. Tv signal kept dipping, the wire needed adjusted a lot, although wasn't much of a loss cause the contents were rubbish anyways (obviously not a haven fault), couches were hard and uncomfortable same as the bed. Mattress was like hard jelly. Restaurant food was awful but all staff were really lovely and friendly. Baby high chairs in the restaurant were dirty. Like not even wipe down. Pool was great for baby although changing rooms were quite chaotic. Bars were pretty quick with drinks. Arcade was okay if you stay away from teddy machines ;). Entertainment was good and location was good. Lots of activities, just remember to book them. Sports bar was nice. They have like mini crazy golf and crazy pool tables but only 1 regular pool table that's £2 a shot 🥲 In conclusion, the site itself is great for kids who have plenty of things to do, but obviously there are flaws. Could have been worse, could have been better.

Visted Craig Tara for 4 days, it was a nice break away and had plenty for the kids to do. The caravan we were given especially compared to others in our party was a completely different standard in our opinion even though it was a gold. I realise it's probably the luck of the draw with what you get but it should really be the same standard if you are paying £600 for 4 days. Our caravan had a smell in it. Chair in the dinner/kitchen area was broken. Chair outside on decking was broken and our bed sheets had some rips in them to us it was not up to a gold standard and was very outdated and well used with stains in sofa, carpet etc. Again if you are paying that kind of money you expect better. We reported this the day we arrived and I have to say the maintance staff are fantastic and so helpful. The swimming felt chaotic even though there were set times you book to get in for your hour slot. The staff however were great. The changing rooms aren't the best as its busy you need to wait for the shower and was not the best laid out. The swimming itself is great for kids plenty to do however nowhere to properly get your baby changed, all you get is a changing room with a bench which isn't great and hairdryers are on a different level which isn't handy. We felt it wasn't the cleanest as well but I think its down to people not cleaning up after themselves rather than staff not cleaning it. For example saw a dirty nappy that was just left on the ground and there was a bin literally 2 seconds walk from it. Not sure if we would come back as it's too much of a risk if you are paying £600 to be in for a lucky dip to get a good up to standard caravan or not.

Beautiful area with amazing views over the bay. Okay beach accessible from camp site. The site itself is really attractive, centering on a really good children's play area with a particularly good 'spidery' climbing frame that felt delightfully old fashioned. TWO football courts allow a choice for younger players plus slides and swings etc. Strangely, several services like crazy golf, peddal cars, zip wire and bungee jump were mostly unavailable despite arriving on a bank holiday. Likewise, service at the otherwise good Sports Bar ended with last orders called at 9:30 and tv's muted almost instantly upon the conclusion of a big match at 10pm! The site had a pleasant layout with some areas enjoying superb views. We disliked our chalet accommodation for the constantly slamming fire doors that seemed unnecessary. Also one of the keys didn't work. Parking was insufficient yet numerous signs prohibited parking on grass - which was unsurprisingly ignored. Other areas were exactly what you'd expect from a large Haven site with what looked like tacky entertainment for kids, tacky slot machines and overpriced gift items. Nice bar area and a Burger King offered the best refreshments. The roads meander pleasantly around the site but signposting could be better and there were no clearly marked footpaths to get to the beach or directly around the 'villages'. Hourly bus service into Ayr was quite pricey. The beach area was described as "sandy and stoney" which is fair. It wasn't bad and has excellent views and shallow areas that extend a long way at low tide. There are occasional bricks etc. and LOTS of seaweed but not too much litter.
